OFFICER ELECTION
The South King County Genealogical Society is pleased to announce nominations are open for the positions of President and Treasurer. Officers will be elected for two-year terms beginning June 1, 2025.
Please contact member-at-large@skcgs.org if you would like to self-nominate or know of additional nominees who are members in good standing for one year prior to the election and who are willing to serve. Nominations may be made up through April 2, 2025.

PRESIDENT
The President has a vital role in leading and guiding the organization to achieve its mission and goals.
South King County Genealogical Society wants a President who:
Provides overall leadership and vision for the organization, ensuring that it remains focused on its mission and long-term objectives.
Inspires and motivates the board, volunteers, and stakeholders
Works closely with the board of directors, facilitating effective governance and decision-making processes
Presides over board meetings, sets agendas in collaboration with the Secretary, and ensures that board members are informed and engaged
The President plays a key role in developing and implementing the organization's strategic plan. To do that, they work with the board, committees, and functional areas of operations to set priorities, establish goals, and create actionable plans to achieve them.
TREASURER
The Treasurer is vital to ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organization including budgets, financial reports, audits, and making sure that the financial policies are followed.
Complies with all policies, procedures, and controls set forth in state and federal law and SKCGS rules
Collects, records and keeps safe all SKCGS funds
Adheres to the Nonprofit Act regarding gifts, grants, and contribution of cash, property, or other assets for charitable purposes consistent with Washington state laws and the organization’s Conflict of Interest policy
Pays all authorized bills of SKCGS in a timely manner
Maintains an accurate record of all receipts and expenditures
Makes all financial records available for review as appropriate
Presents a statement of finances at each meeting of the Board
Presents the budget approved by the board to members for acceptance at the May Annual Membership Meeting
Distributes the year-end financial report to members within 45 days of end of fiscal year
Serves on the Budget Committee
